LifeJourney is an online experience for schools that empowers students to test-drive future STEM careers and learn directly from top industry professionals. Our mission is to provide students in schools across the nation the opportunity to learn about STEM careers, develop new skills, and understand industry challenges with the goal of helping them find their own passion. Working with top professionals from innovative start-ups and Fortune 500 companies (our LifeJourney mentors), we're focused on inspiring students to pursue their dreams and providing them with an educational roadmap as they begin their own life journey.
With so many career and education options available these days, how do students make smart choices about their futures? How can we inspire them to want to learn more about the incredible STEM career options opening up across the nation and around the globe? These are the critical challenges that LifeJourney seeks to overcome. In today's world, students need more than a database of career information, they need a way to explore their future, learn from mentors working in the field, and start understanding their own true passions. At LifeJourney, we call this process "career ideation."
The LifeJourney experience begins on the home page. Students are given the opportunity to explore real STEM careers, and learn from mentors working at firms ranging from innovative start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Their journey includes videos, interactive Q&A, and skill building experiences that we call "field trips."
LifeJourney includes an innovative dashboard that enables students to follow their journey progress, as well as understand their personal career preferences and inclinations. More importantly, the dashboard tells students all about the next steps they'll need to take (skill building, education, certifications, and more) in order to fulfill their career aspirations.
As students progress through LifeJourney, all of their career and skill development experiences become part of a personalized STEM resume. The STEM resume not only provides a continual record of a student's progress and achievements, but becomes a means for sharing those experiences with others, including parents, teachers, and potential employers.
Companies play a leading role in the LifeJourney experience. Their rising stars and seasoned professionals become LifeJourney mentors, exposing students to real-world careers and showing them the path and the skills they will need for their future. Unlike traditional one-on-one mentorship experiences, LifeJourney provides a unique opportunity for companies to connect a single mentor with potentially thousands of students from schools across the nation.
For companies, participating in LifeJourney is not only an opportunity to inspire the next generation (the STEM generation), but to tell them about their company’s vision, mission, and values. LifeJourney also creates opportunities for students to learn through interactive experiences based on a company’s innovative products, services, or solutions.
LifeJourney provides companies the opportunity to become a role model for students across the nation and around the world.
LifeJourney is an online experience that creates new opportunities for career exploration and skill development in the classroom. During ideation, students are exposed to a range of STEM careers through videos, interactive Q&A, and skill building experiences that we call “field trips.” Activities are guided by industry mentors working in today’s exciting STEM fields and designed to make classroom activities engaging and relevant.
The LifeJourney ideation platform also give students access to their own interactive dashboard, enabling them to follow their progress, as well as understand their personal career preferences and inclinations. The dashboard also provides guidance on the steps they’ll need to take (skill building, education, certifications, and more) in order to fulfill their career aspirations.
Participating in the LifeJourney career ideation experience enables parents and students to explore future career and educational options together. Students will come away with a greater understanding of their own passions and available careers. They will also have the beginnings of a road map they can use to have informed conversations about their future. Career and educational choices can be tough—especially when students and parents don't have the information and experiences they need to guide them. LifeJourney was created to fill that gap and help get students on the track to fulfill their dreams.
